Life requires us to interact with others. And every one of those interactions has an impact on our well-being.
Some are positive. But some can really knock us off kilter.
Maybe your boss or a coworker isn’t happy with something you did.
Maybe you made a mistake and you’re beating yourself up about it.
Maybe your spouse or kids are ticked off at you.
Maybe the other drivers on the road are really bad today.
Maybe your neighbor’s dog went doodoo on your lawn AGAIN!
Whatever’s going on, any of those interactions can quickly shift you from calm and centered to upset, angry, and reactive.
Unfortunately, being reactive doesn’t solve anything. Instead, it can escalate the situation.
Give yourself, and everyone you interact with, a break! Learn these five mantras to help you stay centered and focused no matter what’s going on.
I am safe.
I am here.
I am enough.
I am at peace.
I’m exactly where I need to be.
Each of these mantras serves to bring you focus back to the present; back to your body and spirit.
Repeat them slowly as many times you need to feel centered and grounded.
And, I suggest you hold off on responding to people until you’ve done that! Otherwise, the situation could quickly spiral out of control.
